SWIMMING
1. Drowning Fatality All swimmers will wear a buoyancy aids.
(Unless swimming club operating where sufficient, pre arranged safety cover will
be provided.)
Safety craft launched and manned before swimmer entry into water. (Safety boat
or Canoe)
Swimming should not take place around any other craft.
Remote Mod
2. Entrapment under floating jetties
including jumping in from jetties.
Fatality Close instructor supervision.
If jumping in from a jetty the instructor should risk assess suitability of location
with specific reference to:
Depth
Hidden obstructions
The route the swimmer will take to get out of the water

3. Shallow water Major injury Risk disclosure in safety brief.
Possible Mod
4. Hypothermia Major injury Adequate clothing should be worn. Instructor to monitor participants.
(Consideration will be given to seasonal water temperature as to appropriateness
of swimming or jumping into cold water.)

5. Water borne diseases Major Injury Water testing to take place in each lake used for swimming in 3 separate
locations on each lake. Frequency of testing will be every 6 months with
additional tests as required

SWIMMING IN COY’S LAKE SWIMMING AREA
For groups to use the designated swimming area at Coys lake during activity sessions the following applies:
Children (Under 16) must be supervised by a competent person such as a teacher, group leader or a volunteer aged 16 and over. The competent person will be chosen by
the instructor, be made aware of the rules and left in charge of the area.
No jumping off the wooden decking into the swimming area
Swimmers should avoid the floating jetty due to risk of entrapment
Jumping in from the floating jetty should be supervised by a Stubbers Instructor only.
A personal flotation device must be worn
All participants must wear suitable footwear that will stay on
